Rosa Polka: growing and care

Use in garden decor

This variety of roses is universal - it can be grown as a plant decorating the garden area or cut buds that have blossomed. To get beautiful bushes, which are an integral part of the original design of the site, you need not to tie the plant to the support and regularly prune it to give the desired shape to wide bushes. From Polka you can create an amazing hedge that will make a lasting impression on anyone who sees it.

Often the variety is used to create living flowering columns in the garden - such a decor will give the whole garden a romantic and spectacular look. Such roses are often used for landscaping walls - in this way you can decorate both the fence and the wall of the house or gazebo.

Growing technology

Polka propagates with the help of cuttings, which should be selected demanding and meticulously - they must be healthy and have a sufficient number of internodes. Before planting the plant in the ground, it is necessary to cut off all the leaves on the part that will be placed in the ground, and the rest - a little cut. Before planting, the stalk needs to be prepared - to grow roots, for this you can:

  • place the shank in pre-boiled and cooled water, and during planting, fertilize the soil with sand and humus;
  • plant the stalk in a separate box with soil, deepening it by 1-1.5 centimeters.

Planting a climbing variety should be in a well-lit, ventilated area - so the plant will quickly grow and delight you with its flowering. If the plant is planned to be used as entwining any object, then it is recommended to plant 40-50 centimeters from it. In other cases, the landing pattern remains standard - approximately 50 * 50 cm.

Wells for planting are pre-prepared - half of a bucket of manure is poured into each of them, and everything is spilled properly. After placing the plant in the ground, it is cut to a height of 20 cm in order to get a larger bush and plentiful flowering.

Care Rules

Roses need timely and fairly plentiful watering - it must be done weekly. Trimming is carried out as follows:

  • in spring, all frozen shoots are removed;
  • necessarily remove the old shoots, leaving them no more than 7-8 pieces, also leaves no more than 5 annual shoots;
  • in adult bushes, the same amount of old shoots is removed as survived the winter of new ones;
  • in the fall, all dried up and worn out branches are removed.

The fertilizer introduced into the soil during planting is enough for a couple of years, after which it is required to take care of regular dressing of plants with mineral and organic fertilizers, it is best to choose for this purpose mixtures containing nitrogen, peat and minerals:

  • during the growing season 5 top dressings are carried out;
  • during the summer, you need to feed the plants at least twice;
  • last fertilize roses in the fall.

Preparation for winter

Roses begin to be prepared for frost from the last August days - at this time it is necessary to stop watering the plant, and change nitrogen fertilizers to potash. It is recommended to fully cover the roses when the frost reaches 5 degrees - this temperature will harden the bush, and if you cover it earlier, then there is a chance that the plant will begin to sprout or sprout.

Preparation is carried out only in dry weather:

  • the lashes are removed from the support and cut off all unnecessary;
  • a layer of dried leaves is laid on the ground (they can be replaced with spruce branches);
  • the lashes are tied tightly enough with a rope;
  • ready-made knitwear is pressed to the ground using arcs or hooks;
  • roses are also covered on top with spruce branches or leaves;
  • a box or other shelter is placed on top, which is placed under oppression for reliability.
